Masheen was founded in 2003 by Robert Wallis. Before Masheen Robert worked in London for nine years for several design companies. In 1993 after graduating from Barnet College’s HND Graphic Design course, Robert began work with music design specialists Me Company. The time spent at Me Company served as a great apprenticeship and led to a contact at Blue Source.

Robert took a full time position at Blue Source in February 1994. They specialised in design for the music industry and advertising. Robert worked on design campaigns for a range of record companies from major labels to small independents. These included: EMI, Mute, Polydor, Virgin and Warner.

After three and a half years at Blue Source it was time to move on. Robert took a position at Giraffe in October 1997. Giraffe had a broader client base working for the music industry, food retail and the fashion industry.

They also designed and implemented websites so it was an opportunity for Robert to learn about this rapidly growing medium. Giraffe’s biggest client was the Eat cafe chain. The team were called upon to redesign the entire brand identity for Eat, which has now rolled out to more than forty shops in London and across England.

In September 1999 Robert moved to Peacock as a Senior Designer. Robert worked with all the major record labels from BMG to Universal. During this time Robert met his Swedish wife Karin and at the end of 2002 he moved to Stockholm.

Robert worked freelance with Markus Moström Design in Stockholm for six months. Two projects were both for Ricordi & Sfera in Kyoto, Japan. Contrast kitchenware and Sfera Building culture house, identity program design.

In 2003 Masheen was established to build its own client base and as a creative outlet.
